Early Music Ensemble BASSORUM VOX

Neuburger Rundschau - 04.08.2006

Ensemble Bassorum vox, as unique group in many ways, gave a strong impression.

The Korean  cellist, Seung-Yeon and Se-Hee Lee, the Japanese harpsichordist, Mami Kurumada, and the Spanish Theorbo/Guitarist, Joaquim Arau, summoned an enormous sound from the bass instruments.  It was as though the cellists, who were constantly in eye contact, were able to use entire staging as a resonator.  Bassorum vox performed under the direction of Seung-Yeon Lee with high precision, engaging virtuosity, and dramatic accents.  The audience was moved to tumultuous applause, and the juries could do nothing else than give the Biagio-Marini-Preis to this young ensemble.
